Participating in The San Diego H.A.T. Awards is easy. Our awards are nominated by the general public. That means that the ballot is created from our nomination process. You can learn more about how the ballot is created here.
We have two phases that you can participate in. The first is the Nomination Phase and from 9/22/08 - 10/5/08, we'll accept online nominations from anyone who wants to provide them. You must create a user account before you can make a nomination or cast a ballot. You can create an account here.
The second phase is the Ballot Phase which starts on 10/6/08 and goes through 10/31/08 (that's Halloween for those of you who've been living in a tree). During the second phase, nominations are closed and registered users (registration is free) can cast their vote online using our web-based ballot. Users can modify their ballot at any time before the polls close on 10/31/08.
There are only a few simple rules to remember:
- You can only nominate one artist for each category. You can nominate the same artist for each category (if you want to do that).
- Nominations must be aligned with our category criteria. For example a man cannot be eligible for best female vocalist. Cast the nomination if you like, but it won't be counted. You can learn about our categories and criteria here.
- You can create multiple accounts, but we will be tracking suspicious users and if we think you're stuffing our online ballot box, we'll cancel all your votes.
