How are the nominations counted?

When users submit a nomination online at sandiegohatawards.com, they are starting an important process that will ultimately help to recognize and reward the efforts of local, independent artists!  So, we take our responsibility very seriously when it comes to tracking every nomination and making sure that we are keeping our process both fair and open.

  1. First, all nominations that are cast between our start and end date are counted with equal weight.  We will "open" and "close" our polling online automatically, so if you can cast a nomination, rest assured it will be counted.
  2. Next, we record an IP address for each computer that casts a nomination.  The IP address of your computer does not provide us with access to any personal information, but it does help us prevent users from repeatedly nominating their best friend for an award! It is our policy to allow only a maximum of 3 user accounts per IP address. While more submissions can be cast, they are filtered out of the final results
